Biblical Foundations for Christian Effectiveness in Kingdom Expansion.

Foundation

Introduction:

The great commission in Matthew 28:19-20, where Jesus commands His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, is a call for Christians to be actively involved in expanding God's kingdom. However, this task can seem daunting, and Christians may wonder how they can effectively carry out this mission. Fortunately, the Bible provides guidance and principles that can help Christians be effective in expanding the kingdom of God.

  1. The power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8): Christians cannot effectively expand the kingdom of God in their own strength. Instead, they must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, who empowers them to be witnesses to the ends of the earth.

  2. The importance of making disciples (Matthew 28:19-20): The primary goal of kingdom expansion is to make disciples. Christians must not only share the gospel but also teach new believers to obey everything that Jesus commanded.

  3. The gospel's power (Romans 1:16): Christians must not be ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation. They must boldly proclaim the good news, trusting that God will use their efforts to bring people to Himself.

  4. Wise and gracious interactions (Colossians 4:5-6): Christians must be wise in their interactions with outsiders, making the most of every opportunity to share the gospel. Their conversations must be gracious and seasoned with salt, reflecting the love and character of Christ.

  5. Preparedness to give a reason for our faith (1 Peter 3:15): Christians must always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that they have, but they must do so with gentleness and respect.

  6. Recognizing the spiritual battle (Ephesians 6:12): Christians must recognize that the expansion of God's kingdom is not just a physical task but a spiritual battle against the forces of evil. They must put on the armor of God and engage in prayer to overcome the enemy.

  7. Correct handling of the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15): Christians must handle the word of truth accurately, not distorting it for personal gain or to suit their own agendas.

Conclusion:

Expanding God's kingdom is an essential task for Christians, and the Bible provides guidance and principles to help them be effective in this mission. By relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, making disciples, proclaiming the gospel boldly, interacting wisely and graciously with outsiders, being prepared to give a reason for their faith, recognizing the spiritual battle, and handling the word of truth accurately, Christians can effectively expand God's kingdom and bring glory to Him.
